NICKELBACK Scores Ninth Billboard Mainstream Rock No. 1 With ‘Rattle the Cage’

NICKELBACK has returned to No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “Rattle the Cage”, featuring John 5. The achievement gives the band its ninth leader on the chart and its first since “Edge of a Revolution” reached the top in 2014.

Billboard’s chart dated September 26, 2026, shows “Rattle the Cage” rising to No. 1 after an 8% increase in airplay during the tracking week of September 11–17, according to Luminate.

Released July 14, “Rattle the Cage” is a hard-hitting first preview of Nickelback’s upcoming 11th studio album, Everything Under the Sun. John 5—known for his work with Mötley Crüe and Rob Zombie—delivers the song’s featured guitar solo.

The new album arrives October 30 through Virgin Music Group. Nickelback has described the record as spanning the full range of the band’s sound, pairing arena-ready rock songs with reflective writing, massive guitars and the chemistry that has defined the group for more than three decades.

With “Rattle the Cage” now leading Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, Nickelback adds another chart-topping moment to a catalog that includes “How You Remind Me,” “Photograph,” “Rockstar” and “San Quentin.”
